Electrical Contractor Registration Agency (ECRA/ESA)
The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is responsible for the regulation and promotion of safety within the province of Ontario. They aim to ensure that Ontario remains a place where people can live, work, and play safely without fear of electrical harm. In order to do this, they:
- Work to identify and target situations which could potentially lead to electrical harm
- Remain compliant with Part VIII of the Electricity Act and associated regulations
- Work towards educating the public, raising awareness, and providing appropriate training, so individuals are aware of what electrical harm is and how to keep themselves safe
- Work to improve Ontario’s electrical safety by collaborating with Licensed Electrical Contractors, utilities, manufacturers, safety partners, and other stakeholders
Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) – Authorized Contractor Program
The Authorized Contractor Program (ACP) provides selective inspections and pre-authorized service reconnections for specific repetitive electrical installations. Licensed Electrical Contractors and qualified installers who demonstrate consistent compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), based on current practices and previous work, and have a sufficient volume of applications, are eligible for ACP.
COMPLIANCE
Our employees and clients face unique electrical and operational situations and challenges in each of their unique work settings. IPE Canada plays an essential role in ensuring that no matter what the situation or challenge is, everyone involved completes their job safely and with minimal risk of bodily injury and damage to equipment. This is accomplished by carefully abiding by all electrical as well as health and safety laws and regulations. We pride ourselves in this promise, and to help us maintain these high standards; we are registered with the appropriate electrical and engineering authorities and partner with health and safety compliant management companies.
